Installation and Technical Tips

• Manual Tensioning Warning: Unlike modern automatic tensioners, this system requires manual adjustment. Use the "thumb-pressure" rule: there should be approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch of deflection on the longest run of the belt. Over-tensioning can cause premature failure of the alternator or A/C compressor bearings.

• Inspect the Lead Screw: Before installation, ensure the threads on the adjusting arm are clean. Applying a drop of anti-seize to the adjustment bolt will make future belt services significantly easier.

• Locking Nut Protocol: Once the desired tension is achieved using the long adjustment bolt, you must tighten the locking nut on the face of the pulley. Failure to tighten the locking nut will cause the pulley to vibrate loose, leading to immediate belt loss.

• Belt Alignment: After the first 50 miles of driving, perform a visual inspection to ensure the belt is centered on the new pulley. New belts can "stretch" slightly, requiring a minor secondary adjustment to the tension.
