Installation and Technical Tips
Balanced Lift: For the safest and easiest installation, lift the entire rear of the vehicle so that both wheels are off the ground. This neutralizes the tension on the sway bar, allowing the old link to be removed and the new one to be inserted without the bar "springing" out of alignment.
Counter-Holding the Stud: During installation, the ball stud may spin while you attempt to tighten the nut. Use a wrench or hex key (depending on the stud design) to hold the stud stationary while torquing the locking nut to prevent damage to the internal ball socket.
Torque to Spec: Over-tightening can stress the threads, while under-tightening can lead to the link working itself loose, resulting in immediate noise. Refer to Tesla’s service specifications for the exact torque value.
Visual Inspection: While replacing the links, inspect the sway bar bushings (where the bar mounts to the subframe). If those bushings are cracked or flattened, replacing them alongside the links will provide the best possible improvement in ride quality.
