Installation and Technical Tips
Torque Sequence: It is critical to use a calibrated torque wrench when installing the new axle nuts. Improperly torqued nuts are the leading cause of premature wheel bearing failure and hub damage.
Differential Seal Inspection: Before sliding the new axles into the differential, inspect the output seals for any signs of leaking or brittleness. Replacing these seals while the axles are out is a cost-effective way to prevent future maintenance issues.
Spline Alignment: Apply a small amount of multi-purpose grease to the inboard and outboard splines. This helps the axle slide smoothly into the differential and wheel hub, preventing damage to the splines or the transmission seals.
Boot Clearance Check: Once the vehicle is back on the ground, ensure the CV boots have adequate clearance from the rear suspension arms and brake lines. Properly routed components prevent the boots from rubbing and tearing during suspension travel.
