Installation and Technical Tips

• Hardware Refresh: It is highly recommended to install a new Brake Hardware Spring Kit when replacing shoes. Heat cycles eventually weaken the return springs, which can lead to brake "drag" or the shoes failing to retract properly.

• Wheel Cylinder Check: While the drum is removed, inspect the wheel cylinders for leaks. Pull back the rubber dust boots; if you see any brake fluid, the cylinders should be replaced immediately to prevent the new shoes from becoming saturated and ruined.

• Star Adjuster Maintenance: Clean and lubricate the star-wheel self-adjuster with a small amount of high-temperature brake grease. A seized adjuster is the most common cause of a "low" brake pedal and ineffective parking brake operation.

• Surface Preparation: For optimal performance and to prevent "chatter," ensure your rear drums are either replaced or resurfaced. This allows the new shoes to "bed-in" to a perfectly flat surface, maximizing stopping power from the first mile.
