Installation and Technical Tips

  • Integrated Levers: Because this kit includes the parking brake levers already attached, you do not need to struggle with removing the "C-clips" from your old shoes. Simply disconnect your parking brake cable and hook it directly into the new levers.

  • Drum Diameter Check: Ensure your drums are within the maximum allowable diameter (usually stamped on the exterior of the drum). If the drum is worn beyond 9.08 inches, the new shoes will not make proper contact, and you may experience a "low" brake pedal.

  • Hardware Refresh: It is highly recommended to install a new drum hardware spring kit with these shoes. Weak return springs can cause the shoes to drag against the drum, leading to overheating and premature wear.

  • Manual Adjustment: After assembly, use a brake spoon or flathead screwdriver to adjust the star wheel until you feel a slight drag when turning the drum by hand. This ensures immediate pedal response and proper self-adjuster operation.
