Installation and Technical Tips
Pressure Safety: Warning: Never open the coolant reservoir while the engine is hot. Wait at least one hour after driving to allow the system pressure to drop and the fluid to cool to avoid severe injury.
Cap Calibration: The included cap is rated for 20 PSI. Always use the new cap provided with the tank rather than your old one, as the pressure relief valve inside the cap weakens over time and is a common source of "mystery" coolant loss.
Hose Connection: Carefully inspect the quick-connect or clamp-style hoses during removal. If the rubber feels brittle or "crunchy," replace the hoses to prevent leaks at the new reservoir’s barb fittings.
Dex-Cool Compatibility: When refilling the system, ensure you use the manufacturer-recommended Dex-Cool (Orange) 50/50 pre-mixed coolant. Mixing different types of antifreeze can lead to "sludging," which may clog the heater core or radiator passages.
