Engine Coolant Expansion Tank with Pressure Cap

Optimized Thermal Management for 2011–2014 Ford Mustang

Ensure your engine stays cool under pressure with this Premium Coolant ReservoirSpecifically engineered for the S197 Mustang platform, this pressurized degas bottle is a critical component of the cooling system. It serves as an expansion point for hot coolant and actively removes air bubbles (de-aeration) from the system to prevent localized hotspots and engine overheating.

Over time, factory plastic reservoirs can become brittle, develop hairline fractures, or leak at the seams due to the extreme heat cycles of the 3.7L V6 and 5.0L V8 engines. This replacement unit is constructed from high-density, heat-stabilized plastic to withstand internal pressures and environmental stress. It arrives complete with a pressure-rated cap to maintain the necessary boiling point of your coolant.

Fitment Verification and Vehicle Applications

This reservoir is a direct-fit replacement for the following models:

  • Ford Mustang Base (3.7L V6): 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014.

  • Ford Mustang GT (5.0L V8): 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014.

  • Ford Mustang Boss 302: 2012, 2013.

  • Fitment Note: This unit is designed for the primary engine cooling system and includes the necessary pressurized cap.

Installation and Technical Tips

  • Safety First: Never open the cap on a hot engine. The system is under high pressure, and the coolant can be over 200°F (93°C). Always allow the engine to cool completely before removing the old tank.

  • Fluid Compatibility: When refilling the new tank, use the coolant type specified in your owner’s manual (typically Motorcraft Orange or Yellow for these years). Do not mix different colors of coolant, as this can lead to "clogging" or chemical reactions within the radiator.

  • Hose Inspection: While the tank is removed, inspect the "T-connector" on the upper radiator hose. This is a common failure point on 2011–2014 Mustangs; if you see white or orange crusty residue, it is time to replace the hose O-rings or the connector itself.

  • Burping the System: After installation, run the engine with the heater set to maximum. This ensures the thermostat opens and any air trapped in the heater core or engine block is pushed into the reservoir.
