Installation and Technical Tips
Rotor Thickness Check: For Express and Savana 3500 owners, verify your front rotors are 33mm thick. Using this caliper on thinner rotors can lead to over-extension of the piston and catastrophic brake failure.
Banjo Bolt Sealing: Always use new copper crush washers when reconnecting the brake hose to the caliper. Even microscopic debris or slight deformation on old washers can lead to high-pressure fluid leaks.
Steel Piston Maintenance: Because this unit utilizes a steel piston, it is essential to perform regular brake fluid flushes (every 2 years). Moisture-contaminated fluid can cause internal corrosion, leading to the piston "seizing" in the bore.
Gravity Bleeding: After installation, open the bleeder valve and allow gravity to pull fluid through before performing a traditional two-person pump-and-hold bleed. This ensures the large 79.9 mm bore is fully purged of air pockets.
