Installation and Technical Tips

• Battery Safety: Always disconnect the negative battery cable before installation. The "B+" output stud on the alternator is connected directly to the battery; touching it with a tool while grounded can cause a dangerous electrical short.

• Check for Oil Contamination: These V6 engines are known for valve cover gasket leaks. If oil drips onto the alternator, it will saturate the internal brushes and cause premature failure. Address any oil leaks before installing the new unit.

• Belt Condition: Inspect your 7-groove serpentine belt for glazing, cracks, or "chunking." A worn belt will slip on the new pulley, reducing charging efficiency and causing annoying squeal.

• Terminal Integrity: Ensure the main power wire terminal is clean and free of corrosion. High resistance at the "B+" nut is a leading cause of melted connectors and low voltage readings.
