Installation and Technical Tips
Trim Removal: To access the three mounting bolts, you will need to remove the plastic triangular sail panel on the interior of the door. Using a plastic trim tool will prevent snapping the retention clips or scratching the door paint.
Gasket Compression: This mirror includes a pre-installed foam gasket. When mounting, tighten the nuts in a staggered pattern to ensure even compression. A proper seal is critical to prevent wind noise and water leaks into the door cavity.
Paint to Match Process: For a professional finish, scuff the smooth cover lightly with a fine-grit pad, apply a plastic adhesion promoter, and then use your vehicle’s specific color-matched base coat and clear coat.
Cable Routing: Ensure the manual remote cable is routed through the door frame without sharp kinks. If the cable is pinched, the internal toggle will feel stiff and may eventually snap the plastic pivot assembly inside the mirror housing.
