Installation and Technical Tips
Clean the Throttle Body: Before installing the new IAC valve, inspect the internal passages of the throttle body for carbon deposits. Use a specialized throttle body cleaner to remove buildup; if the passages remain clogged, the new valve will not be able to regulate the idle speed effectively.
Gasket Preparation: Always use the provided new gasket. Ensure the mating surface on the intake manifold is scraped clean of old gasket material to prevent vacuum leaks, which can cause an uncontrollably high idle.
Idle Relearn Procedure: After replacing the IAC valve, the Engine Control Module (ECM) may need to relearn the new component's behavior. To do this, disconnect the battery for 15 minutes to clear old data, then restart the engine and allow it to idle for 5 to 10 minutes at operating temperature before driving.
Inspect the Connector: Check the 2-pin wiring harness for signs of brittle plastic or corrosion. A poor electrical connection can mimic the symptoms of a failed valve.
