Installation and Technical Tips

• Shaft Removal: To install the switch in the dash, you must remove the pull-knob and shaft. Locate the small, spring-loaded release button on the side of the switch body. Pull the knob to the "On" position, depress the button, and pull the shaft completely out of the assembly.

• Electrical Safety: Always disconnect the negative battery cable before reaching behind the dash. Vintage wiring harnesses often lack modern circuit protection, and a short against the metal dashboard frame can damage the entire loom.

• Rheostat Heat: It is normal for the ceramic portion of the switch to feel warm during operation, as it uses resistance to dim the dashboard lights. However, if it becomes hot to the touch or smells of burning, check for a short in your instrument cluster wiring.

• Grounding: Ensure the switch is firmly mounted to the dashboard. Some classic vehicles utilize the physical contact between the switch body and the metal dash frame as a ground path for the interior dome light circuit.
