Installation and Technical Tips
VIN Verification: For the 3.3L engine, the 8th digit of your VIN must be an "R" (or "J" for specific 1996 models). Using an injector designed for a different VIN code may result in incorrect fuel flow or electrical connector mismatch.
O-Ring Lubrication: To ensure a vacuum-tight and fuel-safe seal, lightly lubricate the new O-rings with clean engine oil before pressing them into the fuel rail and intake manifold. Never install them dry, as they can pinch or tear, leading to dangerous fuel leaks.
System Depressurization: Before removal, bleed the fuel system pressure at the Schrader valve on the fuel rail. Always keep a fire extinguisher and shop towels nearby when working on pressurized fuel components.
Intake Gasket Replacement: Since the upper intake manifold (plenum) must be removed on these vans to access the fuel rail, it is highly recommended to install a new Upper Intake Manifold Gasket Set during reassembly to prevent vacuum leaks.
