Installation and Technical Tips

Axle Nut Torque: The Ford Transit uses a high-torque axle nut specification. It is critical to use a calibrated torque wrench to meet factory requirements (often exceeding 350 lb-ft). Failure to properly torque the nut can cause the bearing to overheat and fail prematurely.
Surface Preparation: Before mounting the new assembly, use a wire brush to remove all rust, scale, and debris from the steering knuckle bore. A clean mating surface prevents misalignment and lateral runout.
Anti-Seize Application: Apply a thin layer of anti-seize lubricant to the hub's mounting flange to prevent the aluminum and steel components from bonding, which makes any future service much easier.
ABS Sensor Alignment: When installing the hub, ensure the ABS wire is routed correctly through its factory clips. Avoid stretching the wire, as this can lead to an intermittent ABS warning light.
