Installation and Technical Tips

• Proper Bedding Procedure: To achieve maximum performance, slotted and drilled rotors must be "bedded-in" with your brake pads. Perform a series of moderate decelerations from 45 mph to 5 mph without coming to a complete stop. This transfers an even layer of friction material to the rotor surface, preventing future vibration.

• Hub Surface Preparation: Use a wire brush or hub cleaning tool to remove all surface rust from the wheel hub before installation. Even a 0.002-inch piece of debris can cause "lateral runout," resulting in a steering wheel shimmy during braking.

• Electronic Parking Brake (EPB): The rear calipers on these BMW models are electronically controlled. You must use a diagnostic tool to retract the parking brake into "Service Mode" before removing the rear rotors to avoid damaging the caliper motors.

• Directional Installation: Pay attention to the rotation of the slots. Performance rotors are often directional; the internal vanes should "sweep" backward relative to the forward rotation of the wheel to maximize centrifugal cooling.
