Installation and Technical Tips

• The "Loaded" Tightening Rule: To prevent premature bushing failure, do not fully torque the control arm bolts while the vehicle is in the air. Snug the bolts, lower the vehicle to the ground so the suspension is at its "ride height" (loaded), and then perform the final torque. Tightening while the suspension is hanging can "twist" the rubber bushings and cause them to tear prematurely.

• Alignment Required: Replacing a control arm fundamentally changes the vehicle's steering geometry. You must perform a professional four-wheel alignment immediately following installation to ensure proper tire wear and straight-line tracking.

• Hardware Inspection: Subaru suspension bolts are often exposed to significant road salt and moisture. Inspect your subframe bolts for heavy corrosion during removal. It is recommended to apply a small amount of anti-seize to the bolt shanks (not the threads) to prevent them from seizing to the inner metal sleeves of the bushings in the future.

• Ball Joint Seat: Ensure the steering knuckle pinch-bolt area is clean and free of debris before sliding the ball joint stud into place. Improper seating can lead to play in the steering or a "popping" sensation during low-speed maneuvers.
