Installation and Technical Tips
Press-Fit Installation: These bushings are press-fit into the I-beams. Installation requires a heavy-duty ball joint press or a shop press. Many DIYers rent a ball joint press tool specifically for this task.
Removal Method: To remove original bushings, it is often necessary to use a torch to carefully heat the outer metal shell (not the beam itself) or use an air chisel to collapse the shell of the old bushing for easier extraction.
Alignment Required: Because these bushings dictate the pivot point of your entire front suspension, a professional 4-wheel alignment is mandatory after installation. Failure to align the vehicle will result in immediate and rapid tire wear.
Clean the Bore: Before pressing in the new units, use a wire wheel or emery cloth to clean any rust or debris from the inner bore of the axle beam. A thin coat of anti-seize on the outside of the new bushing shell will assist with the press-fit process.
