Installation and Technical Tips

  • Clean the Hub Surface: Before installing the new rotors, use a wire brush or sandpaper to remove rust and scale from the wheel hub face. Any debris left on the hub can cause lateral runout, leading to steering wheel vibration or "brake pedal pulsation."

  • Rotor Degreasing: New rotors are coated in a thin layer of shipping oil to prevent rust. Use a high-quality brake cleaner to thoroughly wash both sides of the friction surface before installation. Failure to do so will contaminate the new semi-metallic pads.

  • Break-In (Bedding) Procedure: Semi-metallic pads require a proper break-in period to reach peak performance. Perform several moderate stops from 30 mph to 5 mph, followed by a few firmer stops from 45 mph. Avoid "panic stops" or holding the brake pedal down at a complete stop for the first 100 miles to allow the pads to cure properly.

  • Caliper Slide Maintenance: Mid-90s Panther platform calipers often suffer from seized slide pins. Clean the pins thoroughly and apply high-temperature silicone brake lubricant to ensure the caliper can move freely, preventing uneven pad wear
