Installation and Maintenance Tips

  • Transmission Seal Replacement: When the axles are removed, the transmission output seals are fully exposed. This is the optimal time to install new seals to prevent future fluid leaks.

  • Fluid Check: Removing the inboard CV joint from the transmission will result in some fluid loss. Ensure you have the correct Nissan-spec automatic transmission fluid available to top off the system after installation.

  • Seating the Inboard Joint: When inserting the new axle into the transmission, ensure the internal "C-clip" or snap-ring clicks into place. A gentle tug on the inboard housing should confirm the axle is fully locked into the transaxle.

  • Torque Specification: The axle nut is a critical safety component. It must be tightened to the factory torque specification (approximately 174–231 lb-ft for this generation) to prevent wheel bearing failure or axle nut loosening.
