Installation and Technical Tips
The Production Date Gap: Early 2001 IS300 models have specific steering geometry. If your vehicle was built after September 2000, the inner tie rod threading or ball joint taper may differ. Always confirm your build date.
Lower Ball Joint Importance: The IS300 uses a "tension-loaded" lower ball joint. Because these joints carry the weight of the vehicle, they should be inspected for play every 30,000 miles. Replacing them now prevents a "wheel-off" failure.
Alignment Requirement: Any time you replace inner or outer tie rods, your vehicle’s "Toe" setting is completely altered. A professional 4-wheel alignment is mandatory immediately after installation to ensure safety and prevent tire scrubbing.
Rack Boot Inspection: When installing the new inner tie rods, inspect your steering rack bellows (boots). If they are torn, replace them immediately to prevent dirt and moisture from destroying your steering rack seals.
