Installation and Technical Tips

• Proper Sealing: To ensure a permanent leak-free seal, thoroughly clean the engine block's mating surface of all old gasket material or RTV residue. Use a high-quality, oil-resistant RTV silicone sealant around the flange, following the specific bead pattern recommended in the service manual.

• Torque Sequence: To prevent warping the pan or creating localized pressure points, tighten the mounting bolts in a star or "criss-cross" pattern. Torque all fasteners to factory specifications—typically between 9 and 11 lb-ft for this engine platform.

• Curing Time: After the pan is bolted into place, allow the RTV sealant to cure for at least one hour before adding oil, and ideally 24 hours before starting the engine.

• Pickup Tube Inspection: While the pan is removed, it is highly recommended to inspect the oil pump pickup tube screen for any debris or sludge. A clean screen is vital for maintaining consistent oil pressure under all driving conditions.
