Installation and Technical Tips

  • Diagnostic Verification: Before replacing the motor, verify that the window switch is sending 12 volts to the motor connector. If you hear the motor "whirring" but the glass does not move, the internal drive gears or the window regulator cables may be damaged.

  • Secure the Glass: Prior to removing the motor from the regulator, use heavy-duty tape or a window wedge to secure the glass in the fully "up" position. This prevents the window from falling into the door shell during the repair.

  • Gear Alignment: When installing the new motor, you may need to slightly move the window regulator up or down to align the motor's drive gear with the regulator's teeth.

  • Lube Maintenance: While the door panel is removed, apply a light coating of silicone-based grease to the window tracks. This reduces friction and drag, which significantly extends the life of the new motor.
