Installation and Technical Tips

• Top Dead Center (TDC) Alignment: Before removing your old distributor, rotate the crankshaft to TDC on the compression stroke for Cylinder #1. Note the orientation of the rotor tip. If the new distributor is installed out of phase, the engine will not start or will backfire through the intake.

• O-Ring Lubrication: Apply a light film of clean engine oil to the base O-ring before sliding the distributor into the cylinder head. This ensures a proper seal and prevents the ring from tearing or binding during the installation process.

• Timing Calibration: While this is a direct replacement, base ignition timing must be checked with a timing light. On the 22RE engine, remember to jump the TE1 and E1 terminals in the diagnostic check connector to "lock" the timing before adjusting the distributor housing.
